CNC Frames
Over the Xmas break we have been prototyping a number of things and not spending
too much time in the workshop. But this week we have been back out in the cold
and catching up on machining parts.
Hopefully by next week we should have the second batch of CNC frames ready to
ship. I will reply to all the emails from the people that emailed me before
Xmas, but feel free to email us at
info@cncdudez.co.uk if you need a quote.
Please email us at
info@cncdudez.co.uk the option you
would be after and also the Country you live in, so we can quote a complete
price with shipping and taxes.
RouterStrap 3D printer on the CNC Machine
is now working.
First Couple of test pieces I think we had
the heat up a little too much.
Third came out better !
Update 12th
November 2011
RouterStrap 3D printer using your own CNC
machine A few threads are now updated showing how we can
convert a normal CNC Machine to be a 3D Printer using the RepRap
Software/Firmware and Interface. http://www.cncdudez.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=8
18F2550 Assembly Instructions. For people who have ordered the 18F2550 USB-Pic
Interface kit, we have posted assembly instructions.

Update 10th
November 2011
I have ported the old 2006 18F4550
USB-Parallel Port code over to work with the new 2011 18F2550 Interface.
We hope to have the PCB kits up on Ebay in the next couple of days.
Please see full details on the following Forum Thread.

We are working on getting the prices
finalised in the next few days and have decided we will be supplying 3 different
options.
Please see full details on the following Forum Thread.

The Prototype 2011 CNC Machine and 2011 CNC Coil Winding machines are nearly complete and we will be getting pictures up in the next couple of weeks.
New 2011 CNC Frame
The new CNC Frame has the following Cutting area:
X-Axis 320mm
Y-Axis 320mm
Z-Axis 85mm
The CNC frame will be offered with a
few different options, starting with a basic starter frame for £320.00.
Fully built units will all be supplied with Ball screws which ensure Zero backlash and precision linear bearings!
A lot of time and thought has gone into supplying an affordable, quality product and as before we will be showing step by step guides on how to use the new machines and examples on these pages.
Full support will be offered by the online forums as well as email and phone support.
We do not want to simply supply and then walk away, as learning how to use a CNC machine and setting it up can be a daunting task, but with a little bit of help it can be made easy and great fun!
We are on target to start supplying sometime in November and If you want to be informed of when they become available, then please fill in the
form at the bottom of this page and we will add you to the email list.

Frame, Excuse the oil marks on certain parts of the frame!
The new CNC Coil winder is a rigid design and uses stepper motors to control the adjustable spool holder as well as the wire feed X-Axis positioning.
We have used a 1:4 gearbox on the spool holder to speed up the winding operations and the X-Axis is fitted with a Ballscrew for Zero Backlash and perfect accuracy for small wire sizes.
The wire feeder comes with a tensioner and adjustable head for easy alignment. A set of different size heads will be supplied that will suit common sized wires.
Control is via any PC which connects via the USB port to the Microcontroller controller. Free easy to use Windows software will be supplied with each machine, to make coil winding a very simple task.
Repstrap 3D Printing Frame
You probably have all heard of RepRap 3D printing machines, but this is what they call a RepStrap machine.
A RepStrap is a open-hardware rapid prototyping machine which is made by fabrication processes which aren't under the RepRap umbrella yet.
In other words using a frame that is not made by another RepRap machine.
More to come on this along with details on the frame to be released.
New 2011 Electronics
As well as updating the Firmware and releasing a new VB.NET development template for the old 2006 interfaces, we are also releasing some new circuits for 2011.
The first circuit will be a USB interface that uses the smaller 18F2550 Pic Chip.
We will be able to offer these factory made PCB's to any one that does not want to make their own and as before all Firmware and Windows control software will be free.
We will update and re-compile the USB-Parallel code as one of the first projects, followed by the jog software, before we move onto some new ideas.
I also have a few of the Power PCB's and Controller PCB's left over from the 2006 designs, which again we can release for anyone wanting to build their own stuff to run their CNC machine.
